“The capacity to view things in their true relations or relative importance.”

That’s the dictionary definition of PERSPECTIVE—the view which shapes our attitude toward every life event.

The thing I love best about Jean Fleming’s Pursue the Intentional Life is the perspective from which she views our spiritual journey and time here on earth. Jean writes . . .

“When I enter my place of endless delight: wonders unveiled, springs unstopped, truths perceived, unbounded communion enjoyed with the Lord and others—

There I will understand and glory in my story.

My life on earth will come into focus without distortion. The pain of life, so seemingly senseless, will emerge in sparkling clarity with meaning.

I will see that nothing came to me from caprice or malice; all came from the hand of a good and wise God.

The tapestry woven out of sight is now revealed. Threads I thought so harsh and coarse are transformed into silken warp and woof. Colors, so discordant, now harmonize. I think heaven will be full of earth—the best parts, the parts closest to heaven.”

Jean Fleming’s little book is filled with wise reminders, challenging insights & beautiful truth. It’s a treasure I’ll re-read and share with others as often as possible. Here’s a link to check it out further if you’re interested.

You can hear Jean talk about each section of the book at the Bloom Book Club. This link shows the schedule for each online session with Jean.

Pursue the Intentional LifeThanks for letting me share this beautiful book with you.

Blessings, friends!

Dayspring 1Through the tender mercy of our God with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us. To give light to those who sit in darkness & the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. ~I John 1:78&79~

Dayspring 2ab

CPhoto Backstory: The first pic is from last year, when my students pulled out all the stops to decorate our little corner of the school. I created the second graphic with tagxedo.com. I’ve been playing with how to use the site for school & made a few graphics for myself. (As always, feel free to download & share any graphics.)

Dayspring is one of my favorite names for Christ. I found this little story from an unknown writer to explain the concept of Dayspring . . .

“The picture is borrowed from the caravan which has missed its way in the desert. The unfortunate pilgrims, overtaken by the night, are sitting down expecting death, when suddenly a star brightly beams above them. They take courage at the sight. The whole caravan leaps to its feet.

It is the Dayspring, the herald of the coming day, and soon they see the great orb himself filling the east with orient pearl and gold.”

Such a beautiful thought! How have your lives been illuminated by the Dayspring this week, sweet friends? I’d love to hear! Continue Reading…

“IMPOSSIBLE. IMPENETRABLE. UNCHANGEABLE. Maybe so—until God gets involved. No matter the details of your circumstance, His raw power potential and immeasurable ability refuse to cower in the face of any challenge. Nothing is impossible with God. Nothing. Not even that thing.”

This tag line aptly summarizes Priscilla Shirer’s uplifting devotional book, God Is Able. If right now you’re struggling because your problems are looming larger than the Lord’s presence in your life, you need this book!

God Is Able is a fast read. But not because it doesn’t have important things to say. It’s simply that Priscilla’s style is so down-to-earth and easy to take in, you’ll feel like you’re hearing from a good friend—one who has been where you’ve been and knows just what to say. It’s a godly, positive, pep talk that you can re-read as often as needed!

(Don’t you love how the book fits right in with my Christmas decorations?)

Here’s an excerpt from God Is Able. Take a moment to read it, and let Priscilla’s words give you hope today.

From Priscilla: “No matter who you are, however old or young, there’s always at least one thing. That thing in your life that you can’t seem to escape or fix or solve . . . You’ve prayed. You’ve asked. You’ve begged. You’ve fretted. You’ve calculated . . .And honestly, you’re starting to seriously wonder now if God can do this, if He can do . . . It.

I’ve got a few Its myself.

In the midst of these various challenges and struggles that come together to threaten my sense of security, stability, and balance, I’ve found my worse fears confirmed.

I am insufficient, outmatched, and incapable of fixing everything.

Sometimes I don’t know how I’m going to make it through the day.

But I’ve also learned something else—something that changed my entire life.

God is able.”

See? A great pep talk! Here’s one of the many quotes I marked . . .

Hand of God 1a
For those who leave everything in God’s Hand eventually see God’s Hand in everything. (Click to Tweet)

If I go up to the heavens, You are there.
If I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
Even there Your Hand will guide me, Your Right Hand will hold me fast.
Psalm 139:8-10

Backstory: No photos this week. Just some graphics I’ve been playing around with. The bird didn’t come out exactly as I’d hoped, but he has a kind of retro look, doesn’t he? He reminds me of the illustrations in my books back in the 60’s. (Did he make you think of an old To Kill a Mockingbird cover?) What have you been working on lately?
