Christmas Gift SuggestionsChristmas Gift Suggestions

To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.

~Proverbs 3:27-28~
“Do not withhold good
From those to whom it is due,
When it is in your power to act.”

Or as it says in The Message . . .
“Never walk away from someone who deserves help.
Your hand is God’s hand for that person.
Don’t tell your neighbor ‘Maybe some other time’
Or ‘Try me tomorrow.'”

These words remind me that the most important gifts
we can share with each other can’t be wrapped & placed under a tree.
Let’s not be stingy but give freely from our hearts—at Christmas time and all the year through.

I’ll be posting Christmas quotes & Scriptures every day this week, so I hope to “see” you again soon.

Thanks for stopping by today. Blessings, friends!

Scripture graphics

He is the radiance of the glory of God & the exact imprint of His nature. ~Hebrews 1:3~

(Click to Tweet)

This seemed a fitting Scripture for the first day of Advent, the season where we celebrate God sending us His beautiful Son!

Here’s how Hebrews 1 sounds from The Message:

By his Son, God created the world in the beginning,
And it will all belong to the Son at the end.
This Son perfectly mirrors God,
And is stamped with God’s nature.
He holds everything together by what He says—
Powerful words!

And I love these words from the folks at Desiring God about His Radiance:

“The glory of God is the holiness of God put on display. That is, it is the infinite worth of God made manifest.

When the holiness of God fills the earth for people to see, it is called glory. God’s glory is the radiance of his holiness.

It is the out-streaming of his infinite value. And when it streams out, it is seen as beautiful and great.

It separates God from all that is common—like the rarest and most perfect diamond in the world.”

What can I add to those words but —Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!

Thanks for stopping by today. Blessings, friends!

Dayspring 1Through the tender mercy of our God with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us. To give light to those who sit in darkness & the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. ~I John 1:78&79~

Dayspring 2ab

CPhoto Backstory: The first pic is from last year, when my students pulled out all the stops to decorate our little corner of the school. I created the second graphic with tagxedo.com. I’ve been playing with how to use the site for school & made a few graphics for myself. (As always, feel free to download & share any graphics.)

Dayspring is one of my favorite names for Christ. I found this little story from an unknown writer to explain the concept of Dayspring . . .

“The picture is borrowed from the caravan which has missed its way in the desert. The unfortunate pilgrims, overtaken by the night, are sitting down expecting death, when suddenly a star brightly beams above them. They take courage at the sight. The whole caravan leaps to its feet.

It is the Dayspring, the herald of the coming day, and soon they see the great orb himself filling the east with orient pearl and gold.”

Such a beautiful thought! How have your lives been illuminated by the Dayspring this week, sweet friends? I’d love to hear! Continue Reading…

Which Christmas is the most vivid to me?  It’s always the next Christmas.  ~Joanne Woodward~ (Click to Tweet)
The earth has grown old with its burden of care, but at Christmas it always is young. ~Phillips Brooks~ (Click to Tweet)
For the spirit of Christmas fulfills the greatest hunger of mankind.  ~Loring A. Schuler~ (Click to Tweet)
The worst gift is a fruitcake.  There is only one fruitcake in the entire world, and people keep sending it to each other.  ~Johnny Carson~ (Click to Tweet)

Photo Backstory: This week I thought I’d gather some Christmas quotes and share the little Christmas corner of my classroom & my holiday bookshelves. One of my students, a boyscout, made the green wreath. It smells heavenly! And the crazy singing stocking is one that I hung in my mom’s nursing home room last year for her last Christmas. It never failed to make her smile!

Have you begun decorating, friends? What’s your most precious ornament? Continue Reading…
