My quiet place

renew me 1a
Psalm 119
Your truth never goes out of fashion.
It’s as up-to-date as the earth when the sun comes up.
Your Word and truth are dependable as ever.
That’s what You ordered—You set the earth going.
If your revelation hadn’t delighted me so,
I would have given up when the hard times came.
You’re my place of quiet retreat. I wait for Your Word to renew me.

  9. Beautiful image with those words. How lovely it would be hanging on a wall! I’m glad, too, that you pointed out the the Message isn’t a reliable translation. It’s more a creative and poetic take-off on the scripture text, and as such it can give us a new thought related to it. This thought is such a good one, the idea that HE is our retreat, and we can take that anywhere!

  10. Peterson (who paraphrased the Message) is a wonderful writer all together. I agree that The Message isn’t suitable for study but it makes things perfectly clear in relevant language. I love it!
