My Genesis

Have I mentioned that my One Word for 2014 is NEW 🙂

New is a small word with a big impact. We use it all the time because it has levels of meaning that reach into all areas of our lives. Here are a few I dug out of the Merriam-Webster . . .

  • Being other than the former.
  • Beginning as the resumption or repetition of a previous act or thing.
  • Different from one of the same category that has existed.
  • Made or become fresh.
  • Altered. Changed. Improved. Redesigned. Au courant. Cutting-edge. Dewy. Distinct. Newfangled. Spick-and-span. Unique. Unspoiled. Untried. Untrodden.

Is a fresh start too much to expect for those of us whose lives are a bit frayed around the edges? I don’t think so. How many folks in the Bible received a fresh start exactly when it seemed impossible?

 Job                               Jacob (Israel)                Moses
Rahab                           Naomi                          Joseph’s brothers
Ruth                              David                           Naaman
Paul (Saul)                    Zacchaeus                   Dorcas
Mary Magdalene           Lazarus                        Peter

  . . . Plus many more . . .

And the God who authored their NEW beginnings is the same God who “wrote all the days ordained for me in His book before there was yet one of them.”

So because He is unchanging, I can count on Him to make me NEW.

“God, make a fresh start in me.
Shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.
Don’t throw me out with the trash, or fail to breathe holiness in me.
Bring me back from gray exile,
Put a fresh wind in my sails!”
Psalm 51:10-12

Genesis Week 7b

A Genesis week . . .

Gathering together my chaos and forming something good and purposeful from it.
I love that!

Wishing you a Genesis week, my friends.
Thanks for sharing a bit of your day with me. Blessings!
