Happy Friday! It’s time to party!

Today I’m part of a Cover Release Party for author Pepper Basham’s second historical romance, The Thorn Keeper, set to release in February 2016.

I read and reviewed Pepper’s debut novel, The Thorn Bearer, and really enjoyed it. You can read my review here.

Here’s my bottom line: “The Thorn Bearer has all the good stuff that makes it fun to while away a day or so in another world—with the added benefit of Spiritual Truth! Exactly what those grand adventures I read as a teen were missing.”

And here are a few of my favorite quotes from the book . . .

Maybe now you can see why I’m looking forward to the second book’s release! The blurb below shares some details about how the series continues . . .

“With her past in shambles, how can she fashion a future of hope?

Catherine Dougall’s past of manipulation has left her future in threads. With a new faith, she longs to take the remnants of her life and make something beautiful, but shame, societies’ judgments, and the natural consequences of an unplanned pregnancy test her newfound hope. Dr. David Ross doesn’t help either.

His kindness, sacrifice, and tenderness tempt her to impossible dreams.

A fallen woman doesn’t merit a fairytale.

David Ross has made every effort to keep his life above reproach. His passion for the sick pumps fresh purpose through his choices, but without financial support to maintain his war hospital, all is lost. When his notorious aunt offers an easy solution, David is tempted to give in to her demands. But his growing affection for the reformed flirt, Catherine Dougall, breaks down the carefully constructed wall around his heart and offers him an unexpected choice.

When the worst of war tears them apart, can love renew the memory of what was lost? Or will tragedy steal away their hope forever?

From the beautiful Derbyshire countryside to the trenches of World War I, Catherine and David must learn to trust in a God who designs a masterpiece out of brokenness and fashions hope in the most unlikely places.”

Sounds like a fun story! So now without further ado, let me introduce The Thorn Keeper – available February 28, 2016 from Vinspire Publishing!

I love writing stories with deep spiritual truths and weave those truths naturally throughout the lives of the characters.

  8. What a dreamy cover! This cover convinces me, once again, that I was meant to be born in a different era. May I also say that I am completely over-eager to find out how Catherine’s reformation unfolds in light of David’s goodness? So many well wishes, Pepper!

Seriously, this was an amazing story to write. I’m a little nervous about how on earth I could ever top it, but praying God helps me as I begin writing book #3 in this fun series

  11. Hey Renee and Pepper! I’m your neighbor at #livefree Thursday and I’m so glad I am. The cover is beautiful. “Reformed seductress….beauty God fashions out of the most broken situations” is compelling. Exciting! Blessings on this new venture.

  12. What a amazing picture you have of The Thorn Keeper cover. Reading that the heroine is a reformed seductress and having such a vivid image of her gorgeous, lush lips on the book cover, I can imagine her using them as a seductive tool. I think this picture is as close as we can get to having the book in our possession. Nice.

  13. Thanks for making us aware of this great book and for joining us at Literacy Musing Mondays. (I love WWI and WWII books.)

  14. This book looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday!

  15. Pepper! I didn’t know you were a Speech Pathologist working with children with special needs. Have you heard of Caroline Musselwhite? She was my Amy’s SP at Irene Wortham Center back in the 80s. Anyway, gorgeous cover! I’d like to read The Thorn Keeper.
