Claiming NEW

Through the magic of film, I watch the scene unfold.

He is broken and bloody. His robe cannot hide the evidence of his scourging. Thorns pierce his skin. A heavy wooden cross weighs Him down. He stumbles and falls.

His mother runs to Him, arms outstretched. Through her tears she gazes at her beloved son.

He touches her face and speaks aloud the mystery. “See, mother, I make all things new.”

Then once again, He embraces His cross and moves on.

His strength and grace make my heart ache.

And I know I will never be able to love Him enough.

Jesus brought newness to all with His death. “New life is only possible when the old life dies. There is always death before resurrection.

Mourning precedes morning.

Death comes before the dream.” *

How I love His old, old story that never fails to make me new.

I claim its power in my life for 2014.

My One Word for 2014 is NEW.

New for post 10a

Why focus on One Word for the year? “Rather than making a list of all our faults, bad habits and regrets, then trying overhaul every aspect of our lives each January, what if we focused on God and just one thing at a time – trusting Him to do the work He’s initiated and promised to complete?”  quote from My One Word Blog
