An overhaul, a tweet, and a photo fest

This first post of a new week contains fun family photos, book club news, and an update on my newest hot spot on the internet.

First, the Christian Fiction Book Club news: We’re currently reading The Girl in the Gatehouse by Julie Klassen, but the discussion won’t begin until April 9th. So you should have plenty of time to grab a copy of the book and take part.

Joy at Edgy Inspirational Romance started this book club, and now she’s overhauled it by proposing some changes to help involve more readers and bloggers. She’s wondering if some of you might be able to participate if the time between each discussion is lengthened and if book clubbers know the book choices several months in advance. Joy has provided an array of books and asked us to choose 6 favorites. If you’d like to be involved in choosing books for the clubs in months to come, follow this link to Joy’s survey. Also, you can follow this link to purchase a copy of The Girl in the Gatehouse from

FYI: A few days ago, my friend Shirley told me about a new author she’d discovered named Jill Marie Landis. And then I found a giveaway going on of Jill’s book, Heart of Lies, at this link. Take it from my friend Shirley, Jill’s an author you won’t want to miss! UPDATE: This giveaway is now over!

Next order of business: In my desire to become a more tech-savvy woman, I’ve recently begun tweeting! I can’t take advantage of all the best aspects of Twitter without a great iPhone, but I’ve truly been enjoying dipping my toes in the water of the Tweeting Community. If any of you out there tweet, you can find me here. I’d love to follow you!

And lastly, the photo-fest: Here are a few of the shots I took at two family events, my nephew’s thirteen birthday and my sister and brother-in-law’s fortieth wedding anniversary. God has blessed me with an encouraging, supportive family. And sometimes I just like to show them off!

A great looking bunch, don't you agree?

Feel free to leave a comment and fill me in on what’s new in your life. Hope you have a week filled with blessings!

  1. Hey, whenever you all are discussing CHF you can use the forums at FYI.

  2. I just followed you on Twitter. One great way to take advantage of Twitter is to hook your blog up so it tweets every time you post. You can do that on Facebook, too. I have all 3 of my blogs hooked in.

  3. Just popping by via ‘I Love My Online Friends’ blog hop to say hello and wish you a lovely week ahead.

  4. I just followed you on Twitter and shared your post on Twitter. I am still in the baby pool at Twitter but I have been trying to get better at it.
I am a new visitor and follower via I love my online Friends.
    I love the book choices!!

  5. I don’t know much about book clubs, but I like to read and can possibly help out if you let me know what it entails.

I’m a new follower from the hop!

    • Hi, Heather! For the book club, all you do is read the book and then post about it on April 9th. Joy at Edgy Inspirational Romance ( will have a linky list for all of us bloggers on that day. Joy posted a link to some discussion questions on her website. (Sometimes I use them; sometimes I don’t!)

I hope you can join us for the discussion. It’s usually a fun day πŸ™‚

  6. I have to agree it is a great looking bunch. I am following you on twitter. Have a wonderful week Renee Ann.

Great pictures, Renee’! Your nephew’s cake reminds me when my son was in Cub Scouts (now he is in Boy Scouts…2 ranks away from his Eagle!). Once a year, as a fund raiser they would hold a Dad/lad cake auction. Boys and their dads would make a cake based on the theme of the year and they would be auctioned off at the moving up ceremony. I have seen log cabins, sharks, even a canoe! It is a lot of fun! Of course we always end up buy back our own cake!

    • I love that idea–a dad/lad cake competition. And congrats that your son is so close to his Eagle! I’m writing this from home because we have another snow day over here πŸ™ No subbing for you, I take it.

  8. Great bunch! And I love that cake!

  9. This is the first time I’m visiting your blog. I like to read light Christian romance with some mystery. Are those the types of books that you usually review or have book clubs about?

    • Welcome, Caren! The Christian fiction book club usually chooses a Christian romance–whether historical or contemporary. This month’s book is historical romance.

I love Christian romance with mystery and will be reviewing a few next month. The books I’ve reviewed in the past have varied. You can see them by clicking on the Book Review section in my header. Some of the authors I’ve enjoyed that you might like are Sibella Giorello, Nicole Young, Susan May Warren, Rene Gutteridge, Colleen Coble, Rachel Hauck, and Terri Blackstock. Are you familiar with their books?

Also, I have a page for Free Kindle Downloads in the header, and most of those are Christian romance. (If you don’t have a Kindle, you can download the app to your PC.) I love reading the freebies!

  10. Love the ski jump cake!! I saw your blog on NOBH.
