A Whisper of Peace

Kim Vogel Sawyer’s novel, A Whisper of Peace, is a story of finding one’s place in the world set against the rich background of late 1800’s Alaska. The main character’s struggles touched my heart, and I  enjoyed the great historical details. They really helped set the stage in my imagination where Lizzie’s story played out. And, of course, I’m a sucker for an inspirational romance with a happy ending.  If you’re the same, pick up your copy of this sweet, inspirational story at this link.

Want more details? Here’s the blurb from Amazon.com: Ostracized by her tribe because of her white father, Lizzie Dawson lives alone in the mountains of Alaska, practicing the ways of her people even as she resides in the small cabin her father built for her mother. She dreams of reconciling with her grandparents to fulfill her mother’s dying request, but she has not yet found a way to bridge the gap that separate her from her tribe.

Clay Selby has always wanted to be like his father, a missionary who holds a great love for the native people and has brought many to God. Clay and his stepsister, Vivian, arrive in Alaska to set up a church and school among the Athbascan people. Clay is totally focused on this goal—until he meets a young, independent Indian woman with the most striking blue eyes he’s ever seen.

But Lizzie is clearly not part of the tribe, and befriending her might have dire consequences for his mission. Will Clay be forced to choose between his desire to minister to the natives and the quiet nudging of his heart?

***Thanks to Bethany House for providing a copy of the book for me to review.

Meet the Author: Kim Vogel Sawyer dreamed of being an author since her earliest memories. Seeing her books in print is sometimes still too good to be true. In addition to her writing ministry, Kim travels to women’s groups to share her testimony of God’s miraculous healing in her life—both physically and emotionally. She sees a correlation between the writing of a good story and God’s good plan for every life, and she hopes her stories encourage readers to seek God’s will in their own personal lives. Kim writes gentle stories of hope, offering her readers encouragement.
